Trial classes are not offered at Arising Stars. It’s our belief that a child isn’t able to fully experience all the activities and benefits in just one class. In addition, allowing a new student into a class on a one-time basis takes time and attention away from the students enrolled in the class. We recommend signing your child up for the minimum of 4 weeks to allow your child to get the full opportunity to experience the benefits of a class. Parents are always welcome to come view a class prior to enrolling.
No, Arising Stars does not require a yearly registration fee for our recreational classes.
Arising Stars has open enrollment all year round.
As soon as your child is registered online with payment, your child can attend their first class. Classes are purchased in consecutive weeks, starting from the first class your child attends (excluding holidays when the gym is closed). In other words, if you purchase 4 weeks of classes, you are paying for 4 consecutive weeks.
There is no opportunity to make up or carry over missed classes. Arising Stars believes in consistency to ensure the progression of the student. Allowing students to make up in other classes with other instructors causes disruption in class sizes and confuses teaching methods. To ensure the best opportunity for your child’s success, consistency is important.
First, identify the classes that match your child’s age. Then, identify the skill level that is best suited for your child.
Locate the list of classes, review the skills list of each class. Once your child attends their first class, Arising Stars staff can confirm that your child is in the best class for them. It’s our belief that’s it’s better for the child to start at a lower skill level and be moved up in a positive way than place them in a class that’s too hard. (Please note that additional fees based on class length may be required if moving to a new class.)
Children new to gymnastics are recommended to start at the lowest skill level. Gymnastics skills are taught on the vault, Balance Beam, uneven parallel bars, and Floor exercise ( tumbling). Review the difference between gymnastics & Tumbling for clarification.
You’ll need to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the start of your child’s class. When you arrive, check in at the front desk, where you’ll complete a few registration forms. You’ll then be introduced to your child’s instructor. We recommend your child use the bathroom prior to class. Remove socks, shoes and other belongings and place them in the cubbies behind the bleachers or have parents hold the items at their seat. Wait on the bleachers until your child’s class has been called to start by the instructor.
Gymnasts should wear a leotard or unitard (leotards with shorts to knee). Spandex shorts over leotards are permitted. Leotards with skirts or sports bras with shorts exposing the belly are not recommended and should not be worn. No capris, leggings, sweatshirts, jewelry are allowed. Hair should be worn up to eliminate interference with vision and placement of hands and feet. Ponytails should not touch the shoulders or neck.
Boys and tumbling classes may wear form-fitting shorts and t-shirts. For the child’s safety students should not wear anything with buttons, snaps or zippers.
Gymnastics is instruction of skills on 4 apparatuses : vaulting, balance Beam, Uneven Parallel bars, and Floor exercise /Tumbling. All gymnastic based classes will have instruction weekly on each event.
Tumbling based classes only work on skills on a tumbling surface- no apparatus.
All classes use a combination of skill shapes and obstacles to improve skill progression.
Class size will vary class by class.
Arising Stars has a recommended student to instructor ratio but every class is unique. Students age, skill level, type of class, instructors experience, number of classes in the gym are all factors that contribute to the progress of a class. Check each class for student /instructor guidelines.
